German Martingale - Draw Reins

A German Martingale with draw reins will help the young horse learn to position his/her head and allow the rider to correctly position the nose. The martingale passes through the bit to attach to one of 4 dee rings on the reins. This unique training device has been a favorite of English riders everywhere, but works great to train any horse. Use this to position the head and build flex. Designed for control with a minimum pressure, as well as setting the horses head.

Easily teach your horse to give to your hands and flex at the poll

Information about Martingales, German Martingales and how to use them

If there was only one piece of special training equipment I could have, this would be my choice.Try this running martingale / german martingale with your snaffle bit, draw bit or gag bits. If you've never used one before, you'll be amazed how much it helps your horse's training. The German martingale is designed to teach your horse to give to the bitflex at the poll and maintain good vertical and lateral head position. This equipment is ideal for helping a horse to learn proper head position for stops, spins and collection.

You'll see them use it in many of their training videos. This martingale is the absolute best quality and will give you years of service. It's designed to be fully adjustable to fit any western horse at any level of training. With the German martingale, you'll have a much better feel of the horse's mouth. It's really easy to teach him to flex at the poll with little danger of over flexing. Results are much better and the horse learns quicker than just about any other method.

German Martingale: This martingale is used to assist with balancing a horse. It is used to encourage the horse to round his back, lift his lower neck and carry his head at or slightly in front of the vertical. Caution should be taken not to over tuck the poll and allow the horse’s nose to be behind the vertical, balanced position.

Directions for use: Attach the snap on the "tie down" to the cinch ring. Bring the fork between the front legs. Thread through the respective snaffle rings in your bit and snap to the reins.

Thread through the respective slots on the reins and adjust so that there is a 3-inch bubble between the rein and the martingale strap. Secure the adjustment. Do not adjust too tightly. Martingales adjusted too tight can cause a horse to resist harder to try to relieve the excessive downward pressure. A martingale that is adjusted too tight can teach a horse to lean and develop incorrectly.
